Differences in Preparation

Amalickiah is kind of the representation of wickedness and evil in these chapters of the Book of Mormon.

"For he was determined, because of the greatness of the number of his people, to overpower the Nephites and to bring them into bondage." (Alma 48:4)

Captain Moroni is kind of the representation of what is good and right.

"Yea, verily, verily I say unto you, if all men had been, and were, and ever would be, like unto Moroni, behold, the very powers of hell would have been shaken forever; yea, the devil would never have power over the hearts of the children of men." (Alma 48:17)

Each of these men spent their time preparing their people in their own way.

"Now it came to pass that while Amalickiah had thus been obtaining power by fraud and deceit, Moroni, on the other hand, had been preparing the minds of the people to be faithful unto the Lord their God." (Alma 48:7)

I think it's important to note here that Amalickiah was doing it all based on gaining power. For himself. Moroni just wanted people to do what was right and to be able to have the spirit with them by being faithful. He wanted them to have freedom and liberty, and to protect them against their enemies. Amalickiah wanted to stir people up to anger between one other. Moroni wanted peace and faith.

I believe that preparing people to have faith is far more effective than preparing people to be bloodthirsty people.

I look up to Moroni, and I think it would be cool to be the kind of guy that can be described like Moroni was.
